About the Flashcards

The Flashcards tool is a complete study app in a browser tab: create decks, add front/back cards, flip through them in free study mode, and — the serious part — review them with real SM-2 spaced repetition, the same algorithm behind Anki. Grade each card Again, Hard, Good, or Easy and the scheduler decides when you'll see it next, stretching intervals for cards you know and repeating the ones you miss. Decks persist in your browser's local storage and can be exported and imported as JSON. Keyboard shortcuts cover the whole study flow.

How to use the Flashcards

  1. 1Create a deck (or use the default one).
  2. 2Add cards — front is the prompt, back is the answer.
  3. 3Study freely with the flip-card view, shuffling if you like.
  4. 4Switch to Review mode to see only the cards that are due today.
  5. 5Grade each answer Again / Hard / Good / Easy — the SM-2 scheduler sets the next review date, and your progress saves automatically.

Common use cases

  • Exam prep with properly scheduled daily reviews instead of cramming
  • Language vocabulary drilling with Again/Hard/Good/Easy grading
  • Memorising formulas, definitions, or medical terminology
  • Interview prep — one deck per topic, reviewed on schedule
  • Teaching: build a deck once, export the JSON, share the file with students

Frequently asked questions

What is spaced repetition and SM-2?

Spaced repetition schedules each card just before you'd forget it, which is dramatically more efficient than re-reading everything daily. SM-2 is the classic algorithm (popularised by SuperMemo and Anki): every grade you give adjusts the card's ease and interval, so easy cards return in days-then-weeks while hard ones repeat sooner.

Where are my flashcards stored?

In your browser's local storage on your device — nothing is uploaded or synced to a server. That means they survive page reloads on the same browser, but clearing site data deletes them, so use Export to back up decks you care about.

Can I move my decks to another device?

Yes — Export downloads your decks and cards (with their scheduling state) as a JSON file, and Import loads that file on any other browser or machine.

Is it free, and is there a card limit?

Free, no sign-up, no limits. Decks, cards, study mode, and the SM-2 review scheduler are all included.
